The Madak from New Irland, Papua New Guinea, have a very special relationship with sharks. With their small outrigger canoes the sail far out to catch them with their hands.

The Fijian island of Beqa is the home of the famous firewalkers. The ability of walking over fire-hot stones was once given to the people of Naceva by the Vu, little spirits. Old Apenisa, the Mbete or firepriest of the village, knows all the rituals that have to be obeyed to please the Vu, so that the men he chooses to walk over the fire will not get burned.
